Seema Singh-Perez

City Council (Knoxville, TN) - Elected 2017

Singh-Perez was born in Varanasi, India and became a naturalized American citizen at age 13. She has served as a community advocate for more than twenty-years, for many years in the field of medical social work helping with access to healthcare for women. She has also worked with the Knox County Health Department serving people with HIV/AIDS and with Knoxville’s homeless population. Currently, Singh-Perez is in charge of a jail alternative program for domestic violence offenders at a local mental health center. She has been active with various, grassroots community organizations and chose to run for public office because she believes positive change begins at the grassroots level.
